Riverchasers tourney
25/50 blinds
my stack is somewhere between around 500-600
early position
pocket tens

I bet 150
guy behind me raises with something close to my stack. It wouldn't have cost me my whole stack to see the flop, but it would have been close. I assumed that if I played, I would be all in by the end.

One of the blinds calls.

Ignoring any potential read on the players - what do you do?

I decided I would go head to head if the blind folded. But when he called, I folded.
I showed my hand and it was a surprise to the table that I folded.

Not a bad fold at all... if this wasn't one of the "well it's this hand or the next" types of decisions, getting away from potentially more than 2 overcards that you have to draw against with no ammo to bet anyone off... not a bad play.

10 BBs left I open shove.  Even if the two guys just called your open bet (instead of raise), you don't even have a pot sized bet to make on the flop.  I'm not looking to play pots with a short stack.  I see pocket 10s, I'm shoving and taking my chances in that situation.

I agree with snakster. I'm getting it in right away, or happily re-raise preflop.

happily re-raise preflop?  even after a re-raise of close to your stack and a call before it gets to you?

The way this was played, I think it's a very easy fold: even if the re-raiser was trying to just push you out of the pot, the smooth-caller from the blind certainly smells like s/he has something that likely crushes TT.

That's why I open shove.  Push them in the middle, then sit back and relax and see what happens.

I agree shove before anyone else on the table has a chance to make any kind of decision. You are telling them I have something dont bluff and try to take my chips.Only someone with a really strong hand will call, the mediocre hands and the bluffers will throw their hand away.

I should have specified that the blind was covered, so he was calling for all in.

Here's what ultimately happened:
re-raiser had 77
blind who called for all in also had TT.

River spits out a 7 and the re-raiser takes it.
